What Are Sitcom Shows?

To begin with, we will explain what sitcom shows are. The word sitcom is obviously a combination of two words that we knit together to make one. Indeed, those two words are Situation Comedy. Thus, we get the word sitcom which is a comedy genre. Now that we know where the word sitcom came from, we can explore it in detail.

Obviously, we find sitcom shows on the television by the score. However, they did originate on the radio. But, because the visual side of things have a better effect, sitcom shows are mainly on TV nowadays.

Generally speaking, sitcom shows usually have the same characters in every episode. Although from time to time there may be a few guests that make an appearance to liven the show up. Production companied can record sitcoms with or without a live audience of course. However, they can also add laughter out of a can if there is no audience. In other words, they can add a pre-recording of laughter to give the illusion of a live audience.

Another way of looking at what sitcom shows are is various comedy sketches that producers join together. The writers of sitcoms are very clever and indeed have much experience. As a result, comedy writers can make a 30 minute sitcom out of various sketches that can we can follow at ease. Of course the British writer, Carla Lane (1928-2016), was responsible for some excellent sitcoms in the UK. In general though, sitcoms are available in most countries around the world.
